Eco-designed website
As we think about our eco-labelled tourist accommodation offer, the web dimension cannot be ignored and is, for us, an integral part of sustainable tourism.
A significant footprint
Over the past 20 years, digital technology has played a huge role in our professional and personal practices.
To take the example of e-mail, when this technology was first introduced, we thought that it would save us a lot of transport and paper, and therefore be much more environmentally friendly. Except that the ease with which it has become widespread has increased the number of emails sent exponentially... and above all, it's not neutral: sending or storing data online consumes a lot of resources without us even realising it.
Studies have now proved it... We can no longer ignore the fact that our digital uses, like all our other uses, have a significant footprint on our planet's resources.
Ongoing work in constant evolution:
So we're trying to reflect on our digital presence in the light of this new awareness. We have explored the ins and outs at length. We enlisted the help of agencies that shared our concerns. We shared this approach with the Brive Tourisme sites (of which we are a part) to push the eco-design envelope even further...
This website is therefore the result of choices and arbitration that we feel are consistent with our values, our objectives and a very reasonable ecological footprint.
Between innovation and avant-garde
The issue of eco-designing your website is one that runs through many of the discussions on the networks. But along the way we realised that few had taken the plunge. Few communications (or web) agencies are technically, culturally or ethically in a position to embark on this adventure... We are therefore proud to have created more virtuous sites and to have taken on board technical service providers who have changed the way they work. But things are changing, and for the Résidence des Collines de Sainte Féréole, it's great to be one of the pioneers.
